A small incident to show how much Subhas Chandra Bose cared for the others

When Subhas Chandra Bose was in Mandalay prison, he wrote a letter to his Mejda Sarat Chandra Bose telling him that for the post of an engine driver in Calcutta Corporation's pumping station or water supply department, a certain person called Imtiaz Ali, had applied. He had put his certificates and recommendation letters along with his application but putting them all in a cylindrical case. The tin case along with the documents was kept in Subhas's office - either on the table or near the chair. That person had requested Subhas to return his documents as he was unable to apply for other jobs. Sarat Chandra Bose should return his documents as soon as possible. This small incident shows how much Subhas Chandra Bose, though young, cared for the others, even if they were of no consequence in terms of contribution. Despite his ill health and despite the great suffering in the despicable and inhospitable condition of Mandalay prison, where he was inching towards death, Subhas was urging his elder brother to ensure that a certain applicant should get back his documents on a priority basis. This is the hallmark of integrity and concern for others' welfare.
