There are some interesting discussions on youtube by Tilak Datta on Bhagwanji or Mahakal - the man who is a metamorphosed Subhas Chandra Bose. The author of A tryst with Mahakal tries to dissect some inherent contradictions in the so called Mahakal and has raised questions about Bhagwanji - what was his spiritual capability, did he possess lower siddhis, and whether the true Bhagwanji had a dummy who often spoke from behind the curtains. Here are some thoughts based on evidences from Oi Mahamanab Ase but we'll discuss about these points in detail. 1) We need to be cognizant of one fact. Bhagwanji never used his power for any personal material gain. Normally people with lower form of powers or siddhis try to use it for material gains. Only a highly evolved spiritual person can control the impulse of using the powers for private gains. Bhagwanji was definitely therefore a highly evolved spiritual person. He used his spiritual powers mainly for the benefit of others and to establish some degree of confidence in his followers and disciples - more as an educational way - like Guru Nanak and other highly evolved spiritual saints did. Even Sri Ramakrishna did use his special powers sometimes even though he hated powers, mostly for the benefit of his disciples. In highly evolved soul the actions do not stem from ego but from higher consciousness that resides in the cosmic soul - hence their actions and wills get synchronized with the cosmic will 2) In this lecture it is discussed that there are some contradictions in Bhagwanji like he banished a dedicated follower like Prof Samar Guha for a seemingly trivial matter, while he readmitted the Bannerjees. Also sometimes his words seem to be egoistic which is a trait absent in highly evolved person. The fact is, highly evolved spiritual persons oscillate between lower state and higher states of consciousness. Whatever they do or say, may seem on a retrospective to be egoistic, but often they are done from a higher spiritual plane, from superego where the individual ego has merged with Brahman or Atman - the I-sense becomes the larger I-sense. Same is reflected in Bhagwan Sri Krishna's utterances in Gita where his "I" is the cosmic ego. If we carefully read Swami Vivekananda's letters we'll see the same inherent contradictions. At times Swamiji is harshly admonishing his disciples, at times he is possibly boasting and so on. But it is to be remembered that even if they appear as harshness or boasting from a trivial or apparent plane of reality, they are not so as they are spoken from a higher consciousness, where the small I is merged with the cosmic I. There is no petty self involved here. That is why they are often misunderstood. They are speaking with great compassion in heart, even their rebukes are for the benefit of the followers There are two classes of great spiritual powers as foretold in Gita - 1) Men who have a mission, men of action - like all great incarnations and prophets and other powers. They work at a physical level for the benefit of mankind - e.g Swami Vivekananda, Shankaracharya, Buddha, Christ 2) Men who are immersed in the contemplation , joy and bliss of atman, work at subtle level - Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Aurobindo. Those who work at a physical level have a definite mission and hence work under certain limitations inherent in the world. Yet they transcend those limitations, the outside world cannot perceive it. Outside world thinks them to be like ordinary human beings only. But these powers often do things that are inexplicable, may be unjustified. Chaitanya Deva banished his ardent follower Haridas for a trivial matter. Vivekananda was misunderstood by Mary Hale or even by Nivedita and Sarah Bull. There are greater inherent meanings in these actions. Prof. Guha possibly worked from the motivation of name and fame - he did what he did out of achieving his own fame and political mileage, while Bannerjees possibly had a far more innocent motive. Therefore the differential treatment. Bhagwanji's sayings and utterances from a higher plane of consciousness is clearly different from that of the lower plane of consciousness - he himself was wondering about what he said in Vajravani - in Oi Mahamanab Ase. So there were no two men or dummies but the same person speaking at different levels
